- Mikhail Pichugin, a survivor of the Sea of Okhotsk, has been given a non-departure undertaking

The court has chosen a covenant not to leave as a preventive measure for Mikhail Pichugin, who has been adrift on a catamaran in the Sea of Okhotsk for more than two months. This was reported to Izvestia on February 1 by the man's lawyer Andrei Nazarov.
"Signature on non-departure with proper behavior," he pointed out.
On October 15, 2024, in the waters of the Sea of Okhotsk in Kamchatka, fishermen found a boat that disappeared on August 9. On it was the only survivor, Mikhail Pichugin, and there were the bodies of two of his relatives - a brother and a nephew. Pichugin was taken to Magadan and hospitalized. After being discharged later that month, he returned to Buryatia.
On January 27, 2025, Pichugin confessed to breaking the law. It was noted that he went beyond the 3 km from the coast allowed by law. On the fact of the incident was initiated a criminal case under part 3 of article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of the rules of safety of movement and operation of water transport, causing the death of two or more persons by negligence").
Later, on January 31, investigators charged Pichugin with violation of the rules of operation of a small-sized vessel, which caused the death of people.
