The cause of the plane crash in Philadelphia could be cylinders with oxygen. This was reported by Fox News Channel correspondent Rich Zeoli on January 31, citing sources.

"As we understand it, it's very possible that, because it's a medical airplane, the oxygen and ... fuel could have triggered such a massive explosion. Maybe that could provide an explanation for this (the crash. - Ed.)," he said.

According to the reporter, the plane was fully fueled as it was headed to Missouri.

As indicated by Fox News TV channel with reference to the police, one oxygen tank was found near the plane crash site in the parking lot of McDonald's.

The crash of the plane in northeast Philadelphia became known earlier on January 31. The incident occurred in the area of Roosevelt Boulevard and Cottman Avenue. The cause of the downing of the airplane is still unclear. According to the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the plane was en route to Springfield-Branson Airport in Missouri. It had six people on board, including a child, Jet Rescue Air Ambulance specified.

Fox News television channel reported that the plane that crashed was believed to be a medical flight. It disappeared from radar 30 seconds after takeoff.

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro indicated that the aircraft that crashed was a small private jet. He said rescuers are being provided with all necessary resources. According to the mayor of Philadelphia, several homes and cars were damaged in the plane crash.

US President Donald Trump expressed his condolences over the plane crash. He also thanked all workers of special services for the work done at the scene of the accident.
