Rehabilitation therapist and mechanotherapy specialist Vladimir Bondarenko told on February 1 how to get rid of chronic back pain.

In an interview with Sputnik Radio, he explained that chronic back pain occurs for a variety of reasons, ranging from sedentary lifestyle to age-related degenerative changes in the spine.

"The consequences of chronic back pain come in a variety of ways. First, it is a restriction of mobility, which leads to the formation of functional blocks in the muscles. Secondly, the pain itself entails psychological exhaustion, it irritates and increases the level of anxiety and irritability. Thirdly, the first two factors physiological and psychological cannot but affect social interaction, because people start to see us always as very angry or aloof. As everything in the body becomes chronic, the internal organs become disturbed. Everything in the body systemically goes haywire," Bondarenko noted.

According to the rehabilitologist, a few simple exercises can help prevent or level out chronic back pain. For example, stretching hamstrings, when we lie on our backs bend one leg and pull up the other, holding it with our hands. As Bondarenko pointed out, this exercise will help reduce tension from the lower back. The "cat-cow" exercise can also help with back pain. - on all fours, where we alternate between arching and arching the back. This improves the flexibility of the spine and relieves tension in the back muscles.

In addition, the specialist advised standing in the plank, as it strengthens the front muscle line, particularly the quadriceps muscles, and practicing the pelvic lift, which stimulates the buttocks and pelvic floor. As another effective exercise, the rehabilitologist named side bends and torso twists, which strengthen the external oblique muscles.

Bondarenko emphasized that a healthy lifestyle is not only exercises, but also proper nutrition, good sleep and a general biochemical check-up once a year to find out where there is a "sag" and adjust it.

Earlier, on November 21, 2024, Akulina Bakhturina, a senior trainer of the international network of ballet and stretching studios LEVITA, told Izvestia that with proper work with the muscles you can not only improve the stabilization of the body, but also form a beautiful posture, ideal silhouette, get a more noticeable and natural relief. Emphasis on working these muscles also helps to reduce discomfort and pain in the back and lumbar region.
