There were only two people on board the airplane that crashed in Philadelphia. This was reported on January 31 in the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), refuting the information about six people on board, which appeared in the U.S . media.

"The Learjet 55 aircraft crashed around 18:30 local time (February 1, 02:30 Moscow time - Ed.) on Friday, January 31, after takeoff from the northeast airport of Philadelphia. There were two people on board," the department said in a statement.

According to the agency, the plane was headed to Springfield-Branson Airport in Missouri. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will investigate.

The downing of the plane in northeast Philadelphia was reported earlier in the day. The incident occurred in the area of Roosevelt Boulevard and Cottman Avenue. The cause of the downing of the airplane is still unclear. There is also no word yet on the condition of the passengers.

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro indicated that the aircraft that crashed was a small private jet. According to him, rescuers are being provided with all the necessary resources.
