TheUnited States has signed a $383 million contract with Lockheed Martin, a division of the defense-industrial concern, as part of the Trident II submarine-launched nuclear ballistic missile service extension program. The Pentagon said on January 31.

"Lockheed Martin Space of Florida receives a $383.1 million add-on to the previously awarded contract for Trident II service life extension," the statement said.

It is noted that this is for design and development improvements. Additional details of the contract are not given. As indicated in the U.S. agency, the work should be completed by September 30, 2030.

Earlier, December 18, 2024, it became known that the Pentagon awarded a contract of almost $3.5 billion for the design and construction of the E-130J aircraft to provide communications to manage the country's nuclear triad. It is specified that work on the new aircraft is planned to be completed by December 2034.
