The crew of a Su-34 supersonic multirole fighter-bomber of the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) has struck a Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) stronghold in the border area of Kursk Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on February 1.

The ministry specified that the strike was targeted with special aviation bombs with a universal planning and correction module (UMPK).

After Russian scouts confirmed the destruction of an enemy point with AFU manpower and equipment, the crews returned to the airfield of departure.

Earlier, on January 31, the Defense Ministry reported that an Army aviation crew on a Mi-28NM helicopter as part of a mixed tactical group disrupted the rotation of AFU units in the border area of Kursk Region. The agency specified that the crews were carrying out tasks to support ground troops.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
