Ussuriysk paratroopers have evacuated to the rear and restored a trophy infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) M113. This was reported in the Russian Defense Ministry on February 1.

It is noted that another trophy BMP M113 of American manufacture was delivered to the location of the separate Guards airborne assault unit of the Airborne Forces from the Far East from the border areas of Kursk region by the forces of the repair and evacuation group of the Airborne Forces.

As indicated in the department, the evacuation of the armored vehicle took place in two stages. First, an engineering reconnaissance of the evacuation area was conducted to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment used. The second stage was the actual operation to evacuate the U.S. BMP, where, under the incessant influence of FPV drones and enemy artillery, the paratroopers of the repair and evacuation units towed the enemy BMP and delivered it to the repair unit.

The armored vehicle fell into the hands of Russian servicemen with virtually no critical damage. Ammunition, automatic rifles, machine guns and grenade launchers were found inside. The BMP itself was not hit, but hit a mine, exploded and lost the track with the right front friction. After that, its crew and troop were killed, and the survivors, abandoning the combat vehicle, scattered.

"It was brought to us in very bad condition. The caterpillar belt was completely broken, we assembled it from the parts that were left. The torsion, on which the roller is placed, was torn out. We had to do a lot of work. The difficulty was that this is a trophy and we don't have spare parts lying around. We had to find another trophy to restore this armored personnel carrier. We just disassembled it, saw how to put what was put on it. Then we figured it out and did it ourselves," said the master of the repair department of the separate Guards Airborne Assault Troops with the call sign Dobryy.

In the course of repair work to restore the BMP, the necessary parts were removed from another trophy M113 - donor and installed on the trophy vehicle. After that the machine "got up to speed". In the future, a decision will be made on the use of the trophy American equipment.

Earlier, on January 6, it was reported that in the Kursk border area, a repair and evacuation group delivered a trophy infantry fighting vehicle to the location of a separate Guards Airborne Troops airborne assault unit from the Far East.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
