Journalist Carlson says Zelensky sold Ukraine

American journalist Tucker Carlson said on January 31 that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy 's unpopularity (his term expired on May 20, 2024) among the country's citizens is due to his selling out the state and serving the West.
"He is extremely unpopular because he is a lackey of Western forces who sold out his country. Ukrainians know very well that he is enriching himself and that the entire leadership of the country is doing it," Carlson said in a conversation with British TV journalist Piers Morgan.
According to the journalist, Zelensky fits the definition of a dictator.
"Zelensky is not an elected [president]. He has banned a religious denomination. He killed his political opponents. He banned a language group. In my opinion, these are all signs of a dictatorship. <...> If I gave you a piece of paper [with characteristics of Zelensky's regime] and said that this is a description of some European leader, you would say that this is illegitimate and that this person is a dictator," Carlson pointed out.
The journalist believes that Kiev's support for the conflict harms the national interests of the United States, in particular the dollar as the world's reserve currency.
Earlier, on January 27, the Ukrainian edition of Strana.ua reported that more than half of Ukrainian citizens are ready for early negotiations for the sake of peace. It was noted that this indicator was growing. Thus, in February, the number of Ukrainians ready for peace talks amounted to 36.1 percent, in September - 40.4 percent, and in October - 49.4 percent.
On January 23, Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleksandr Dubynskyy, who is in jail, called Zelenskyy a pariah to whom it was time to say goodbye. In his opinion, the Ukrainian leader is considered a thief and usurper inside the country, who is responsible for Ukraine's imminent defeat in the conflict, while abroad he is considered a "stubborn fool".
On January 13, former Pentagon adviser Colonel Douglas McGregor said that Zelensky should be in prison until a plan for his death penalty is worked out. According to him, the Ukrainian leader both by himself and by the hands of the law-enforcement agencies under his control has done more to destroy statehood in Ukraine than anyone else in the whole world.
In addition, a January 9 poll on the website of the Kiev International Institute of Sociology (KMIS) showed that the trust of Ukrainian residents in Zelenskyy has fallen by 39 percent since December 2022. It is specified that trust in the leader as an institution of power fell from 84% to 45%, and as a person - fell to 52%.
On November 2, 2024, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Ukraine would be in Western bondage for decades and pay for debts with its residents, subsoil and territories.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region.
