On Friday, January 31, economist, associate professor of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation Petr Scherbachenko told how to save money for a vacation.

In a conversation with Lenta.Ru, the expert urged first of all to determine the total amount needed for a vacation. After that it is necessary to estimate the remaining time before the proposed trip, and then divide this amount by the number of months before the vacation to find out how much you need to save each month. To make saving easier, he recommended keeping a record of all the family's spending.

To save money on a vacation, the economist advised to consider booking earlier: this usually requires paying about 30-50% of the cost of the trip in advance.

If there is no known date of vacation, you can open a savings account in the bank and transfer to it regularly 10-20% of all income. Scherbachenko emphasized that the savings account is the easiest way to multiply funds given the high key rate.

In addition, the economist suggested using the "50/30/20" method: to divide the entire family budget into three areas of expenditure. Loans, housing and utilities, rent, taxes, food, as well as desires (dinners, entertainment, hobbies, basic necessities) and just vacations and emergencies. You can also use the 60/30/10 interpretation instead of 50/30/20.

According to the economist, there is another method called "pay yourself": a person sets aside 5-15% of all income. Another option is to round up the balance on the bank card and send this money to a savings account once a day or a week. Also not unreasonable will be the use of bank cards with the accrual of cashback in miles or rubles for purchases. You can also plan vacations with family and friends to reduce the total cost of travel and transportation.

Earlier, on November 29, 2024, experts of the platform "Avito Work" told "Izvestia" that for vacation it is best to consider the months with the most working days, so in 2025 profitable for vacation will be April, July, September, October and December.

When calculating vacation payments, accountants multiply the average daily salary of an employee for the last 12 months by the days of vacation. Therefore, it is best to consider months with the most working days for vacation.
