State Duma deputy Svetlana Zhurova reacted to the detention of a Russian crew by Norwegian police on suspicion of allegedly damaging a cable in the Baltic Sea, saying that Russia is not interested in such a thing, especially against the background of already strained relations with Europe.

In a conversation with Lenta.Ru on Friday, January 31, the parliamentarian noted that "the accusations of the Russian information accurately always go the right way, it always seems to be true and reliable."

"In such cases, they usually ask for participation in the investigation, so it is necessary to study the arguments in view of which the Russian crew of the ship was considered to be involved in the cable damage," Zhurova emphasized.

She pointed out that the case should be carefully investigated. She expressed the opinion that such actions are disadvantageous for Russia in conditions of aggravation of all problems with Europe.

Earlier on January 31, Norwegian detained the ship Silver Dania with a crew from Russia on suspicion of alleged cable damage in the Baltic Sea. It was noted that the ship is registered in Norway and sails under the Norwegian flag, but all the crew on board are Russian citizens. They have not yet contacted the Russian Embassy.
