- Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation will give a legal assessment of the Czech senator's call to repeat the siege of Leningrad

Investigators will give a legal assessment to the statements of Czech Senator Miroslava Nemcova, who called to repeat the siege of Leningrad. This was reported by the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia on January 31.
"The Czech senator called on her page in the social network to repeat the blockade of Leningrad during the Great Patriotic War, and then deleted the post. This fact will be given a proper legal assessment by investigators of the State Investigative Committee of the IC of Russia," - stated in the message of the IC in the Telegram-channel.
On the eve of January 30, Nemtsova wrote in her social networks that Russia should not celebrate the anniversary of the lifting of the siege of Leningrad, but again experience something similar. The senator said that such an effect could allegedly be achieved by tightening Western sanctions.
Before that, on November 14, 2024, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stressed that the German authorities stubbornly refuse to recognize the siege of Leningrad and other terrible crimes of Hitler's followers on the territory of the Soviet Union as genocide of the peoples of the USSR. In addition, the FRG transfers social benefits to former military men from the SS. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry recalled that Germany was going to renovate the hospital for war veterans in St. Petersburg. Berlin wanted to make a voluntary humanitarian gesture in this way, but this intention was never fulfilled.
The blockade of Leningrad began on September 8, 1941. It lasted 872 days and claimed the lives of more than 1 million people. It was possible to break through the Nazi ring that had tightened around the city on the sixth attempt thanks to the "Spark" operation. The only way to deliver food to the besieged city was the Road of Life, laid on the ice of Ladoga. On January 27, 1944 the blockade was completely lifted.
