Ukrainian police urged Dimitrov residents to evacuate

Residents of the AFU-controlled town of Dimitrov (Ukrainian name Mirnohrad) have been urged to evacuate due to the approach of Russian troops. This message appeared in the official Telegram channel of the Ukrainian police on January 31.
It is reported that the Russian Armed Forces have already approached the settlement almost closely.
It follows from the publication that about 3,000 people now live in Dimitrov. The residents of the town are experiencing a shortage of food and drinking water.
Dimitrov is located in the northwest of the DNR, about 30 kilometers from Krasnoarmeysk (Ukrainian name - Pokrovsk), where the Russian army continues to advance.
Earlier, on January 28, British analyst Alexander Mercouris predicted a political crisis for Ukraine after the loss of Krasnoarmeysk, adding that such a turning point would "finally sweep away" Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (his term expired in May 2024).
Prior to that, on January 13, it was reported that Ukraine was halting coking coal production at a mine in its controlled Krasnoarmeysk due to the advance of the Russian Armed Forces.
Ukrainian publication NV also warned last November that the loss of the town would be an economic disaster for Ukraine, as Kiev would lose its only mine with strategic reserves of coking coal, which supplies the entire metallurgical industry of the country.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region.
