Russians from the ship detained in Norway have not yet contacted the embassy

Russian citizens, who are members of the crew of the Silver Dania vessel, have not yet applied to the Russian Embassy in Norway. This was reported in the diplomatic mission on January 31.
"The police informed the crew of the ship about the possibility to contact the embassy in Oslo and the Consulate General in Kirkenes. No appeals have been received so far. The embassy is keeping the situation under control," the diplomatic mission told TASS.
They added that law enforcers of Troms County explained to the embassy that the Russians from the detained vessel are not under arrest.
Earlier in the day, Norwegian police detained the Silver Dania vessel with a Russian crew on suspicion that it was allegedly involved in cable damage in the Baltic Sea on January 26. The vessel runs between St. Petersburg and Murmansk, and was requested to be detained by the Latvian authorities. The Troms police specified that the vessel had a crew of 11 Russians, all of whom, as well as the shipping company, are cooperating with the investigation.
Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silinja said that the submarine cable was probably damaged due to external impact. She noted that the damage was serious enough, it was discovered in Sweden's economic zone.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on January 28 that Russia was allegedly involved in the damage to this cable. First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Vladimir Dzhabarov called Scholz's words nonsense in a conversation with Izvestia. The senator pointed out that the head of the German government ignores that the United States is involved in the explosion of the Nord Stream gas pipelines, but immediately notices Russia's alleged guilt in insignificant situations.
