Members of a financial pyramid scheme who stole 15 million rubles were exposed in Bryansk

Bryansk law enforcers filed a criminal case on criminal association against the members of a financial pyramid scheme, who stole about 15 million rubles from 75 people. This was reported on January 31 by the press service of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the region.

"At present, the investigation of criminal cases initiated under part 4 of article 159 and part 1-2 of article 210 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation continues. Twelve defendants are in custody, and three more have been elected a measure of restraint in the form of a signature on non-departure and proper behavior", - stated in the message.

It is specified that the group has a stable composition and strict distribution of roles, which is a sign of a criminal community. Its participants offered people support in creating their own profitable business, and after receiving from them the first installment did not provide the promised assistance.

According to the agency, the attackers demanded money from customers immediately on the day of application, and if they did not have their own savings, persuaded them to take out loans, the amount of "preliminary contributions" exceeded 180 thousand rubles. Then the fraudsters gave them club cards of the company they were supposedly representatives of and discount cards for tourist vacations, as well as cheap jewelry as a bonus.

The criminal scheme operated from October 2018 through March 2024.

The day before it was reported that In Moscow detained a 19-year-old foreigner, who, pretending to be a cashier of the currency exchange office, stole from the client 13.9 million rubles. A criminal case under Part 4 Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud committed by an organized group on a large scale") has been initiated. A preventive measure in the form of remand in custody has been chosen for the defendant.
