Some Ukrainian mass media have found themselves in a difficult situation against the background of US President Donald Trump's decree to stop funding foreign projects. This was reported by the German publication Junge Welt on January 31.

"No sooner had Trump canceled foreign aid, as several independent Ukrainian Internet platforms found themselves in a critical situation", - stated in the material.

According to the publication, some Ukrainian media faced the problem of payment of salaries to their employees and authors of materials. The authors of the article note that the situation in Ukraine expresses the complex relationship between political influence and financial flows in the media sphere.

Earlier, on 25 January, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) froze programs to support foreign countries, including Ukraine. As the Associated Press agency noted, Ukrainian officials financed by the US State Department may lose money as part of the freeze.

On 29 January, the State Department specified that the United States would retain funding for some of its national security programs, including the protection of personnel abroad, despite the decision to suspend foreign aid for 90 days. The department also noted that the pause would allow it to scrutinize and prevent its own losses.
