Russia to hand over information on AFU crimes in Kursk region to the UN
Russian representatives will submit information to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) about the war crimes committed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the village of Russkoye Porechnoye in Kursk Region. This was reported on January 31 in the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN in Geneva.
"We will pass it on as soon as we receive official information about it," the press service of the post mission told RIA Novosti.
Earlier, on January 18, the "North" group of troops published footage of the bodies of civilians found in basements in Russkoye Porechnoye. A criminal case was opened over the killing of civilians. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the guilty Ukrainian militants would be punished.
Later, on January 31, the Russian Investigative Committee (IC) identified five Ukrainian militants who were involved in the mass murder and rape in the village.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the same day that the crimes of the AFU militants should be constantly voiced despite the deafness of the international community.
The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
