About 570 million rubles were allocated for forest conservation in the Pskov region

About 570 million rubles were allocated for the preservation of forests and unique water bodies of the Pskov region during the period of the national project "Ecology". All planned activities and indicators have been implemented in full.

In 2024, the region completed the implementation of the projects "Conservation of Forests" and "Conservation of Unique Water Bodies". Over 400 million rubles were allocated to equip specialized institutions with forest firefighting equipment. The equipment supply has reached 100%. By liquidation of forest fires in the first day after detection the region twice got into the top five leaders in Russia. This is reported by the Pskov newswire with reference to the Chairman of the Committee for Natural Resources and Ecology Viktor Musatov.

The reforestation area was increased eight times. In addition, it was possible to form a stock of seeds for reforestation.

With support from the federal center, 80 million rubles were allocated for clearing the areas of the Pskov-Chudskoe Lake and the Pskova River bed. Specialists removed excessive aquatic vegetation, cleaned water areas from debris and removed bottom sediments.

In 2025, the work will continue under the National Project "Environmental Wellbeing". By 2026, it is planned to build a greenhouse complex for growing planting material with a closed root system.
