Russia sends 29.4 thousand tons of diesel fuel to CAR as humanitarian aid
Russia in response to the appeal of the Central African Republic (CAR) sent to the country as humanitarian aid a batch of diesel fuel in the amount of 29.4 thousand tons, reports the Russian Foreign Ministry on January 31.
It is noted that on January 29 unloading of fuel from the Russian ship was completed in the port of Limbe (Republic of Cameroon). Its further transportation to the city of Bangui (the capital of CAR) will be carried out by the host country.
"This action is an important continuation of Russia's consistent efforts to assist the CAR, with which we have strong ties of friendship and multifaceted cooperation, in solving the energy crisis in this country," the agency's website says.
It is noted that Bangui expressed gratitude to Moscow for timely humanitarian aid, which contributes to the improvement of the socio-economic situation in the CAR.
Prior to that, on January 16, the Kremlin hosted talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and CAR President Faustin Arkange Touadera. At the beginning of the meeting, the Russian leader said that the Russian Federation was ready to continue cooperation with the CAR in the field of security, as well as to provide humanitarian assistance with grain supplies. In turn, Touadera expressed gratitude to Putin for the role of Russian instructors in strengthening bilateral cooperation. He also thanked Russia for grain supplies, fuel and assistance to the country's army.
Earlier, on January 15, the head of the Russian Agriculture Ministry, Oksana Lut, together with the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Central African Republic, Gismala Hamza, signed a memorandum in the field of agriculture. During the meeting, they discussed the development of bilateral trade, as well as cooperation in science and technology, breeding and seed production.
