Emergency Situations Ministry employees have liquidated open burning on the slope of Mount Kuma in Sochi, and work to eliminate the smoldering of dry bedding continues. This was reported by the correspondent of "Izvestia" on January 31.
"Because of the mountainous terrain, it was not easy for rescuers to get close to the epicenter of the fire. The flames broke out right on the mountainside," she said.
According to her, work on extinguishing the fire continues with the help of Ka-32 helicopter. It has already made several water drops.
Local authorities said that the situation is under control, there is no threat to the settlement, located several kilometers from the fire, added correspondent Maria Matveenko.
Earlier on January 31, it became known that in Sochi on the slope of Mount Kuma forest litter caught fire. The fire is extinguished with the help of aviation. To work on the elimination of the fire involved 25 people and six units of special equipment.
