In Finland, a schoolboy with Russian citizenship was not allowed on an excursion to the nuclear power plant (NPP) "Olkiluoto". This was reported by the broadcaster Yle on January 31.

It is specified that in November 2024 the pupils of the gymnasium were to go to the nuclear facility, having previously filled out a questionnaire with personal data. However, one of the pupils, who has dual citizenship, received a letter that he was not allowed to visit the nuclear power plant because he could allegedly pose some kind of threat to the facility's security.

"This is a hard line of corporate security, which unfortunately cannot be influenced," Yle quoted the document as saying.

In the police of the broadcaster explained that the administration of such facilities can decide for themselves who to let in and who not.

Earlier, the President of Finland Alexander Stubb said that the opening of the Finnish-Russian border, which was closed by Helsinki, allegedly depends on the actions of Moscow.

Before that, on January 27, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Finland Mari Rantanen said that the country plans to tighten the requirements for obtaining a permanent residence permit for foreign citizens. It is planned to increase the period of stay in Finland from four to six years to obtain a document.

On October 24, 2024 the Finnish Border Guard Service announced the complete closure of two checkpoints on the border with the Russian Federation. The "Parikkala" and "Inari" checkpoints have completely stopped their work.
