- Political analyst urged not to wait for cancelation of U.S. aid to Ukraine because of Rubio's words
TheUSA will try to shift its aid to Ukraine onto the shoulders of European taxpayers, but one should not be deceived and expect Washington to stop financing Kiev completely. This opinion was shared with Izvestiya on January 31 by Oleksandr Dudchak, a member of the international public movement The Other Ukraine and a candidate of economic sciences.
The day before, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that Ukraine had been set back 100 years as a result of the conflict. According to the official, the previous US administration dishonestly persuaded people to believe that Ukraine could "not just defeat Russia, but destroy it." Thus, he emphasized, the situation has become a stalemate for Kiev and Washington.
"The Trump administration will not stop aid to Kiev, the fact that now certain difficulties have arisen in Ukraine does not mean that there will be a complete halt to aid, well, or what they call aid. Perhaps, to a large extent, it will be shifted to the shoulders of the Europeans - however, how they will pull it off is also difficult to imagine," Dudchak commented.
He also noted that it is currently unprofitable for the United States to support Ukrainian organizations that turn the country's population against Russia, as their goal has already been achieved. Thus, Washington can redirect the suspended aid to other needs of Kiev to fight against Russia.
"So, let's not be deceived," summarized the interlocutor of the publication.
Earlier, on January 28, White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt said that the administration of former US President Joe Biden spent budget funds like "drunken sailors". She noted that this was one of the reasons for the inflationary crisis in the country. It is reported that in this regard, the Trump administration temporarily stopped funding for a number of federal programs.
In addition, on January 25, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) froze programs to support foreign countries, including Ukraine. As the Associated Press noted, Ukrainian officials funded by the US State Department may lose money as part of the freeze.
Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbas, which began on February 24, 2022, due to the aggravation of the situation in the region as a result of Ukrainian shelling.
