Sales of "Sobols" and "Gazelles" with eco-friendly engines began in Russia

Sales of rear-wheel drive vehicles Sobol NN and Gazelle NN, as well as buses Gazelle Next and Gazelle City with engines of the fifth ecological class have started in Russia. This is stated in the report of the company "Modern Transport Technologies" (GC "STT"), which was received by "Izvestia" on January 31.
These models began to be equipped with modernized diesel engines of G-series (volume 2.5 liters; capacity 150 hp) of Euro-5 standard. To meet the requirements of the eco-class, an electronically controlled throttle valve and turbocharger, catalytic converter, particulate filter and exhaust gas recirculation system have been introduced. Power and torque figures are retained.
In models with 5-speed gearbox, such as "Gazelle Next" and "Gazelle Citu", the engine in Euro-5 version has the designation G51A and develops torque up to 330 Nm. For the models "Sobol NN" and "Gazelle NN" with 6-speed transmission is designed a modification of the G51C engine, which has a maximum torque increased to 420 Nm.
Diesel engines G 2.5 of Euro-5 ecoclass have been equipped with an exhaust gas recirculation system (EGR). It is designed to reduce the toxicity of the engine exhaust when operating in part load mode. The system allows directing part of the exhaust gases into the intake manifold to replace excess oxygen, thus reducing nitrogen oxide emissions. The composition of the mixture is regulated by an electronic control unit acting on the recirculation valve and throttle valve.
November 13 last year in Russia began sales of the minivan "Sobol NN", which is certified as a passenger car under category B/M1. Previously, passenger versions of Sobol NN were produced in the "bus" category B/M2, and the process of certification under the rules of category M1 required a longer time. Accordingly, now the driver only needs a "B" license to drive a minivan.
