An official is suspected of illegally extracting 105 tons of sand in Kuban

An official was detained in the Krasnodar Region for illegal sand mining in the Kuban River bed. The investigation found that the civil servant and his accomplices appropriated about 105 tons of soil.

KrasnodarMedia news agency with reference to the press service of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs specifies that the 46-year-old deputy director of the federal institution for the provision of land reclamation is suspected of stealing natural resources. Sand was extracted in Krasnoarmeysk and Abinsky districts.

The official was detained at the workplace. The criminal case was initiated under the articles "Theft, organized by a group on a particularly large scale" and "Violation of the rules of protection of aquatic bioresources". The value of the extracted soil exceeds 20 million rubles.

Earlier, January 24, it was reported that in Krasnodar region arrested the property of the defendants in a criminal case on the theft of especially valuable lands of Sochi National Park. The total value of the arrested assets exceeded Br1.5 billion. In the future, the property will be confiscated in order to compensate for the damage caused to the state and plant life.
