About 700 thousand new cars have accumulated in warehouses in Russia

As of the beginning of 2025, about 700 thousand new cars have accumulated in the warehouses of Russian distributors. This was reported on January 31 by RBC with reference to a source in the car market. This figure exceeds the level of the beginning of 2024 almost twice.

According to the publication, a similar assessment of current residuals is called by the CEO of GC "Avtodom". About 52% of the current stock is occupied by cars of Russian production.

At the same time, the director of the analytical agency "Avtostat" Sergey Tselikov cites data on about 600 thousand cars, including not only cars, but also commercial vehicles, trucks and buses. This figure is called a record at least since 2020 - then, as a result of the pandemic came problems with logistics and demand exceeded supply. According to Tselikov's estimates, 400 thousand cars out of this volume are cars of Chinese brands.

Andrei Terlyukevich, General Director of AutoSpecCenter Group of Companies, said that at the beginning of 2025, the stock of new cars alone amounted to 400-500 thousand units. Based on the sales volumes in November-December, it will be enough for 4-5 months of trade.
