- "Conversations about Important Things" on February 3 - topic and program of the class

On Monday, February 3, Russian schools and colleges will host another lesson from the "Talking About Important Things" series. It will be devoted to innovative technologies and such a direction of professional activity as technological entrepreneurship. "Izvestia" tells how the lesson will be held and what will be discussed with students in different classes.
"Conversations about important" on February 3 - the theme of the lesson
The lesson is timed to the 290th anniversary of the outstanding Russian inventor Ivan Kulibin. The self-taught mechanic from Nizhny Novgorod invented many original mechanisms and machines: a water carriage, a scooter cart, a searchlight, as well as a unique egg-shaped clock with a complex mechanism, which was then presented as a gift to Empress Catherine II.
Even during his lifetime the inventor was nicknamed "Nizhny Novgorod Archimedes". Today his name has become a nominal one. "Kulibinami" is often called talented scientists and engineers who invented something new, capable of changing people's lives.
In the modern world, such activities are called "technological entrepreneurship". This is an activity related to the creation of new technologies and their implementation in life, which allows to create new opportunities for the realization of human potential and, as a result, open new horizons for the development of the country.
In Russia, technological entrepreneurship is recognized as the basis for the development of the country's economy. The state actively supports young entrepreneurs who are engaged in innovative technologies. Various programs, grants and other resources are available to them for the development of their ideas.
What is technological entrepreneurship and support measures will be discussed in the topic "Business and Technological Entrepreneurship". The aim of the lesson is to form initial ideas about science as the basis for creating innovative technologies, as well as to develop the interest of students and pupils in this kind of activity.
Interactive games and watching thematic videos will help to master the topic of the lesson. The speakers will be Natalia Popova, First Deputy Director General of Innopraktika and public ombudsman in the sphere of protection of rights of high-tech companies-leaders, and Alexey Fedotov, Business Development Director of Yandex.
The session will last 30 minutes. Methodological materials and recommendations are published on the project website.
"Conversations about important" on February 3 - lesson program
In the first and second grades, the lesson will begin with a discussion of the chapter "How Znaika Invented a Balloon" from the book "The Adventures of Neznayka and His Friends" by children's author Nikolai Nosov. The children will learn how the invention of the balloon influenced the friends' lives and what opportunities they got thanks to this innovation.
The teacher will continue by telling what inventions were invented by children, as well as the holiday Children's Inventions Day, or Children's Inventors Day, which was celebrated around the world in mid-January.
In grades three through four, they will talk about such an important invention as the electric light bulb. Students will learn how people lighted their homes before it was invented. And then they will discuss how great inventions are born and whether children can be part of the technological process.
In fifth through seventh grades, kids will learn how ideas turn into useful things and what specialists help them materialize in real life. They will also learn the meaning of the word "innovation" and discuss how to go from a young inventor to a successful entrepreneur.
Grades eight through nine will talk about the role of education and science in technological entrepreneurship. In addition, the class will look at government support measures that help entrepreneurs develop their ideas and enter the marketplace by capitalizing on their developments.
For students in grades 10-11, a more in-depth talk is envisioned. Among other things, it will be devoted to the choice of future profession. In particular, the class will discuss why young people are increasingly becoming entrepreneurs and what promising areas can be chosen to start their own business. The topic will be reinforced by watching the video "Technological Entrepreneurship".
College students will also talk about how to build a career in the field of innovative technologies. The teacher will also offer to fill in the check-list "Qualities of an entrepreneur" and organize practical work "Idea for technological business".
