The Ministry of Education reported the lack of work on demography-related projects

The Russian Ministry of Education is not currently working on any projects related to demography and has not announced it. This was reported by the ministry's press service on January 31.

"The demographic issue is an important one for our country. And within the framework of extracurricular classes "Talking about important", social studies lessons, teachers discuss with schoolchildren family values, measures to support families with children. Thanks to the unified education program, we strive to instill in children respect for spiritual and moral values, including the traditional large family. This will help them in the future to be able to take responsibility for themselves, relatives, loved ones and the country," - stated in the message.

The day before it was reported that the director of the Department of state policy in the sphere of upbringing, additional education and children's recreation of the Ministry of Education of Russia Natalia Agre during the round table on the theme "From the people's supply - to the people's multiplication" said that school discos should be returned to teach children to build romantic relationships.

According to Agre, only 8% of Russians between the ages of 18 and 21 want to see themselves in family life. She emphasized that this figure is very low.

"I recently neatly started discussing, where are our school discos? <...> We need places where a boy can ask a girl out. It's good that school uniforms are gradually coming back, where boys dress like boys, girls like girls. This is very important, because even appearance suggests a completely different quality of relations between boys and girls," TASS quoted her as saying.

Earlier, on December 26, 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that improving the demographic situation, supporting fertility and many children, and improving the welfare of families is a priority national goal. According to him, a lot of efforts have been made this year to strengthen the public authority and high status of the family.

Before that, on December 19, Putin said that the issue of demography is one of the key issues not only for Russia, but also for many other countries. According to him, during the period of the USSR, the birth rate was 2%, while now it has fallen to 1.41%. He noted the need to raise this figure to 2.1%.

In July, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted during a meeting with participants of the Festival of New Media that the average birth rate in Russia is at 1.4%. He emphasized that this is comparable to European countries and Japan, and said that the government is doing a great job and implementing a whole set of measures to improve the situation.
