A day before the airplane crash in Washington, a helicopter prevented the landing of another airplane. The Washington Post reported on January 31, citing sources.

"A day before the plane crash in Washington, another plane had to abort the first landing at Reagan National Airport," the newspaper writes.

It is specified that the Republic Airways flight was coming in for a landing at Washington airport when a helicopter appeared in its path, causing the pilots to be forced to go for a second round. But the passenger plane was eventually able to land safely.

On the night of January 30, an American Airlines passenger plane and a Black Hawk military helicopter collided near Ronald Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C. After the crash, they fell into the Potomac River. A total of 60 passengers and four crew members were aboard the plane. There were three military personnel in the helicopter.

US President Donald Trump reported no survivors of the plane crash in Washington, DC.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that there were Russian citizens in the plane that crashed in Washington.
