Specialists managed to extract from the Potomac River in Washington the bodies of more than 40 victims of the plane crash. This was reported by CNN on January 31.
"According to CNN, received from multiple sources with knowledge of the rescue work, as of Thursday afternoon, more than 40 bodies were extracted from the Potomac River," - stated in the material.
The interlocutor of the publication specified that diving operations are carried out during the day in daylight, since, presumably, most of the victims, which can be reached without removing the fuselage from the water, have already been extracted.
On the night of January 30, an American Airlines passenger jet and a Black Hawk military helicopter collided near Ronald Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C. After the crash, they fell into the Potomac River. A total of 60 passengers and four crew members were aboard the plane. There were three military personnel in the helicopter. US President Donald Trump said there were no survivors of the plane crash in Washington.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that there were Russian citizens in the plane that crashed in Washington. Peskov said that there were Russian figure skaters on board the passenger plane. He expressed condolences to the families and loved ones of those who died in the airplane crash.
Later, CNN reported that one of the flight recorders (black boxes) of the crashed passenger plane was recovered from the Potomac River near Washington. At the same time, ABC News, citing a source familiar with the situation, reported that both flight recorders - voice and parametric - of the passenger plane had been found.
