A crew of a T-72B3M tank of the Vostok group of troops has destroyed fortified firing positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the South Donetsk direction of the Special Military Operation (SMO) zone. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 31.

The tank crews, in order to provide fire support to Russian assault groups, moved to the front edge of the enemy's defense and launched a powerful fire strike, working according to the given coordinates.

It is reported that the tank crews go ahead during the offensive, covering the assault groups. At the same time, they have to work directly through minefields, because of which the servicemen use anti-mine trawls, which, while moving, dig into the ground and destroy everything in their path, the tank itself is not damaged.

Also, the modern tank is equipped with video cameras that allow the crew to control the all-round view.

"The last combat task consisted of the fact that we had to use roller trawls to make a passage in the mine blast barrier and get the infantry onto the BMP. If any firing points were detected, we had to suppress them with cannon fire. The enemy worked on us, nevertheless the task was accomplished, our infantry got to the place from where and rushed", - said a serviceman with the call sign Mityai.

Earlier, on January 30, the Russian Defense Ministry said that calculations of Msta-B guns and BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launchers (MLRS) of the "South" group of troops destroyed up to 100 AFU fighters and several combat vehicles on the Kurakhov direction of the North Caucasus Military District. It is noted that the calculations worked on the outskirts of the settlement of Dachne in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR).

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
