Syrian President in Transition Ahmed al-Sharaa announced the formation of the country's transitional government. He said in his first address to the nation as head of the Syrian state.

"We will work to form a comprehensive transitional government that will reflect the diversity of Syria, its men, women and youth, and that will take on the work of building the institutions of a new Syria until we reach the stage of free and fair elections," SANA news agency quoted him as saying in its Telegram channel.

He also promised during the speech to achieve civil peace in the country.

Earlier, on January 29, the head of the new administration of Syria's interim government, Ahmed al-Sharaa, was declared president of the country for a transitional period. In addition, the new Syrian authorities announced the termination of the former constitution and the dissolution of the country's parliament.

The situation in Syria escalated as a result of a major attack by armed formations in Aleppo and Idlib, which began on November 28 and led to the Syrian army's retaliation against the militants.
