Experts have named the reasons for the rise in prices for car parts

The increase in the cost of auto parts for foreign cars, which is now observed in the Russian Federation, occurred mainly due to the following two reasons - weakening of the ruble exchange rate and worsening of the terms of supply of spare parts to the Russian market. Experts of the automotive market told "Izvestia" about it on January 31.

According to Alexei Bredikhin, director of the Group of ratings of financial institutions ACRA, CFA, the average annual rate of the dollar against the ruble in 2024 increased by 15% compared to this indicator for 2023. At the same time, the average annual exchange rate of the euro increased by 14%.

Deterioration of conditions for the supply of auto parts to the Russian market occurred due to the strengthening of sanctions on foreign economic settlements and physical deliveries.

"At the same time, according to the data for the first nine months of 2024, the average premium on KASKO contracts did not increase, amounting to 25.5 thousand rubles per contract (26.3 thousand rubles - according to the data for the first nine months of 2023). We attribute this dynamics to an increase in the share of mini-KASKO contracts with limited insurance coverage. At the same time, the average payment for the same period has increased significantly - from 155 thousand rubles for nine months of 2023 to 189 thousand rubles for nine months of 2024", - explained Bredikhin.

According to Pavel Yakovlev, Senior Product Manager of the Retail Insurance Department of RESO-Garantia, the average payout in the KASKO segment for individuals for passenger cars has increased by 34%. Most of this increase reflects precisely the change in the cost of spare parts.

"For which foreign brands did auto parts go up in price the most in 2024? It varies from brand to brand. European passenger cars are up 53%, Chinese cars are up 33%, Russian cars are up 19%, and Korean cars are up 22%. In our portfolio for the second half of 2024 (from July 2024 to the beginning of January 2025) the most expensive parts for Opel, Volkswagen, Peugeot, Skoda and AUDI, as well as Chinese brand VOYAH", - said the specialist.

Experts of leasing company "GTK Auto" noted that the rise in the price of spare parts in the market, unfortunately, is not something new, so firms were prepared for it one way or another.

"The cost of spare parts is affected by a combination of factors: the dollar exchange rate, logistics and the ability to make payment with the counterparty. On average, the cost has increased by 20-30% over the past year, but it all depends on the model and make of the car. It is still quite difficult to make a long-term forecast, but if the situation stabilizes, the rise in price will not be so significant", - explained there.

Before that, on December 19, 2024, the Russian Union of Auto Insurers told Izvestia that a new guide to the average cost of car parts, which is used to calculate repairs under MTPL, came into force in Russia. The prices for spare parts for VAZ (+3.2%) and Volkswagen (+2.5%) cars have increased the most.

On average, the cost of spare parts in the guide has increased by 0.5% compared to the compendium in force since September 19, 2024. Such dynamics shows that the situation with spare parts is stable on average, although the trends in prices for parts for cars of different brands differ markedly, said the President of RAMI Evgeny Ufimtsev.
