"Fonbet" filed a lawsuit against ex-general director Anokhin for 100 million rubles

Bookmaker company "Fonbet" has sued the ex-general director Sergey Anokhin, demanding 100 million rubles from him. This was reported to "Izvestia" in the company on January 30.

"The company decided to file a lawsuit against Sergey Anokhin to protect the honor, dignity and reputation of the company in business circles," the statement reads.

It is reported that the claim in the Arbitration Court was filed on January 30. "Fonbet" demands from Anokhin 100 million for the fact that he "disgraced" the company, trying to give a multimillion-dollar bribe, being its head.

Earlier in the day it became known that the court arrested Anokhin for two months in the case of bribery in the amount of 60 million rubles. Anokhin's lawyer said that his client pleaded guilty, executed a confession of guilt and "cooperates with the investigation.

The day before, January 29, Anokhin, one of the heads of the Moscow Interior Ministry departments and a lawyer, was charged under Part 5 of Article 291 ("Bribery on a particularly large scale") and Part 4 of Article 291.1 of the Criminal Code ("Aiding and abetting bribery on a particularly large scale").

The Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia specified that Anokhin did not want law enforcers to learn about embezzlement at his former place of work. For this purpose, he tried to give a bribe in the amount of 60 million rubles, but his plan failed because the operative who was to receive the money and one of the intermediaries were participants in the operational experiment.

Anokhin was detained on January 29 while trying to hand over the bribe. Six people were detained in the case of the ex-general director of the company, including the deputy head of the Department of Internal Affairs in the Eastern District of Moscow, Sergei Bivol.

At the time, it was reported that Anokhin had been head of Fonbet since 2022, but left to focus on developing his own business projects. Acting CEO of the betting company will be Konstantin Linev.
