Turkish authorities have decided to seal at least 50 hotels in Antalya after a fire in the resort's hotel in Bolu province, which killed nearly 80 people. This was reported on January 30 by the Turkish TV channel NTV.

The Investment and Entrepreneurship Directorate of the country's Ministry of Culture and Tourism sent out an urgent letter signed by the agency's deputy minister, Nadir Alpaslan.

"It asks to seal all unregistered facilities that do not have a business or work license and have not received a tourism activity certificate within the legal deadline. Following inspections in Antalya, municipal teams sealed 50 hotels in and around the Kaleici neighborhood," the publication said.

Earlier, on January 27, the Sabah newspaper reported that the fire at the Grand Kartal Hotel in the Turkish ski resort in Bolu province could have been caused by a mistake by its employees who did not turn off the grill.

The massive fire at the resort in Bolu occurred on the night of January 21. According to the latest reports, 78 people died in it. The fire started in a wooden hotel located at an altitude of 2.2 thousand meters. It was specified that there were almost 240 guests in the building. January 26, the owner of the Grand Kartal Hotel Halit Ergul called the hotel staff responsible for the fire. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared January 22 a day of mourning in the country after the tragedy.
