In Tallinn, Estonia, the second day of the European Figure Skating Championships began with a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the plane crash in the United States, which occurred when a passenger plane and a military helicopter collided. This was reported by Sport-Express on January 30.

Earlier in the day, Doug Zegib, executive director of the Boston Figure Skating Club, said that coaches Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov were killed in the plane crash. Besides them, according to the club, the victims were figure skaters Jinna Khan and Spencer Lane, as well as their mothers.

On the night of January 30, an American Airlines passenger plane and a Blackhawk military helicopter collided near Ronald Reagan National Airport in Washington. A total of 60 passengers and four crew members were aboard the plane. There were three military personnel in the helicopter. Preliminary, there is no data on survivors.

US President Donald Trump called the airplane crash that occurred in Washington terrible. He said that the tragedy could have been avoided if the helicopter crew had changed course.

NBC News reported that more than 30 dead people have been pulled from the water. German pilot and aviation expert Peter Gatz suggested that the crash could have been caused by a mistake by air traffic controllers.
