One million road signs have appeared on Russian roads in six years

Almost 1 million road signs and more than 13 thousand traffic lights have been installed for six years under the national project "Safe Quality Roads". This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Marat Khusnullin on January 30. He said that one of the features of this national project is a comprehensive approach to the repair of highways.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, in recent years the country has seen an increase in the intensity of traffic on the roads. The volume of cargo transportation is increasing, the mobility of citizens is increasing, he noted.

"In this regard, the key task for us remains not only to bring the roads to a standard condition, but also to ensure the safety of all road users. We will continue to work in this direction within the framework of the new national project "Infrastructure for Life", - said Deputy Prime Minister.

Earlier, January 28, the head of the Russian State Traffic Inspectorate, Lieutenant General of Police Mikhail Chernikov said that according to preliminary data, the number of traffic accidents in the country decreased by 0.7% last year, while the number of people killed in them decreased by 0.9%.
