Parts for foreign cars in Russia have gone up in price by an average of 20-50% in 2024, which is many times faster than the average inflation rate (9.5%), Izvestia has found out. The worst situation was with European brands: Mercedes, BMW, Volvo, Skoda, Audi and Volkswagen. The problem is that difficulties with the supply of parts due to sanctions and payment difficulties are only increasing. Among other factors, car service centers and insurers name currency exchange rate hikes and general inflation. At the same time, repair terms are also increasing due to logistical problems, and hull insurance policies are becoming more expensive. Prices for spare parts in 2024
Spare parts for foreign car brands in Russia rose sharply in 2024 - their cost grew much faster than the average inflation rate, which last year was at the level of 9.5%.
For example, on one of the largest marketplaces the price of original parts for foreign cars increased by 50-80% on average, said the analytical company JVO. They added: for non-original analogs from Turkey, China and Korea prices have increased less - "only" by 25-45%.
Most of all, electronic components, such as sensors, cameras, control units, went up in price - some almost twice. The second place is occupied by elements of transmission and engine (turbines, clutch, fuel pumps) - their price has increased on average by one and a half times. Pads and disks are on the third place - their cost has increased by 30-55%, JVO added.
The most popular spare parts, the so-called consumables, went up in price by an average of 15-20% last year, said Nikita Rodionov, technical director of the international network of car services Fit Service. According to him, the worst situation was in the group of parts for brake system, pneumatic system, steering and clutch. In addition, traditionally higher price dynamics - among rare components under the order, he noted.
Manufacturers' price lists for 2024 for original spare parts have increased on average by 17-20%, said Maxim Dmitriev, Director of Loss Adjustment Department of the retail business of Ingosstrakh. According to him, most of the growth came in the second half of the year.
According to the data of "Renaissance Insurance", the prices for parts for 30 most popular car brands increased by about 27%, said the vice-president of the company Sergey Demidov. Different brands "behaved" differently. The largest increase was in parts for European cars - up to one and a half times, said the press service of "Rosgosstrakh".
According to JVO, the most significant increase in the cost of components for the German Mercedes - by 50-75%. This is due to the complete cessation of official deliveries and the shortage of original spare parts in Russia. Prices for German BMW increased by about the same amount. The third place in terms of the rate of price increase of spare parts is occupied by the Swedish Volvo.
Themain reason for the increase in European brands is the difficulties with the supply of spare parts due to the ongoing sanctions and payment difficulties, explained the director of the Directorate for mass losses settlement of SOGAZ Sergey Goncharov. According to him, only from March to December 2024, the price of components for the Czech brand Skoda increased by 62%, only slightly less - for German Audi and Volkswagen. And about one and a half times - for the French Renault.

According to her, many parts, especially of European brands, have become almost unavailable for ordering - their cost has increased by more than 70%. And even under such conditions, there is no guarantee of delivery.
In addition, service stations note that most new European parts with electronics come with locked modules. They require complex expensive firmware. This also affects the final price, explained Yulia Fedotova.
But the cost of spare parts for Chinese cars is steadily growing, emphasized the director of the department of settlement of losses on motor vehicles of IC "MAKS" Ivan Popov. And after all, brands from China flooded the market with affordable models, which were presented as inexpensive in maintenance. For such brands, some parts went up in price two or three times. Therefore, now owners of Chinese cars may face the fact that the price of spare parts exceeds the cost of leading European brands, he said.
When auto parts will stop getting more expensive
Another of the main reasons for the rise in the price of spare parts is a jump in the dollar exchange rate in November 2024, explained Nikita Rodionov from Fit Service. If at the beginning of last year, the "American" cost 97 rubles at the Central Bank rate, then by December it strengthened to 107 rubles. According to the expert, the exchange rate affects not only the price of parts, but also the cost of logistics - it increased by 20-40% last year.
Another factor is the increase in price lists from manufacturers, reported in the GC "Autorus". This was the main reason for the rise in prices of Chinese models, believes Sergei Goncharov from SOGAZ.
However, warehouses in Russia have a large stock of goods at previous prices. Therefore, the changes have not yet had time to fully affect the cost at the end of the year, added Nikita Rodionov.
On the other hand, along with the rise in price of original spare parts there are more and more analogs, said Alexander Kharagezov, Director of Insurance Payments Department of AlfaStrakhovanie. According to him, Volkswagen group brands stand out in particular. The quality of "non-original", which is delivered to the Russian Federation, is high enough for these parts to be used in the restoration of cars, added the Russian Union of Auto Insurers (RSA).
Rising prices for spare parts are affecting repair costs, said Maxim Kolyadov, head of retail operations at insurance broker AMsec24. According to him, it also leads to an increase in the price of full hull insurance policies. Insurance companies are forced to take into account the increased risks and costs of car restoration. However, not as much as the cost of spare parts is growing.
Thus, last year the average price of such policies in MAKS increased by 10%, in VSK - by 7%, in "Zetta Insurance" - by 5%, and in "Renaissance Insurance" - within a few percent. Prices for hull insurance will increase against the background of inflationary growth in the cost of spare parts and the average loss, expect in "Ingosstrakh". However, they do not forecast a sharp change in the cost.
Under MTPL insurance, the increase in the price of spare parts will also affect the growth of tariffs, according to experts of the insurance company "Soglasiye".
In addition, due to problems with the delivery of spare parts, the average repair time increases, added Sergei Demidov from "Renaissance Insurance". However, under compulsory motor TPL insurance, the time of restoration of the car can be increased only with the written consent of the car owner, reminded the RAMI. Otherwise, according to the law, the insurance company must carry out repairs within 30 days or pay the damage in money.
Most likely, prices for spare parts for foreign cars will continue to rise, but not at such a rapid pace, says Maxim Kolyadov from the company "Insurance Broker AMsec24". In his opinion, in 2025 they will rise in price by 5-15% on average. The reasons will remain the same - exchange rate fluctuations and new import restrictions.
