Over two-thirds of Russians (70%) save and regularly send part of their income to savings, according to the results of a survey conducted by SberNPF and the financial marketplace Vyberu.ru, as reported by Izvestia on January 31.

One third of respondents admitted that they do not save yet because it is difficult for them to manage their expenses.

More than a third (36%) of respondents save up to 10% of their income every month.

"In such a scenario, a person can spend free money on traveling, buying clothes or entertainment, and the relationship with finances will be healthier," said Alla Palshina, executive director of SberNPF.

Also 64% of the survey participants said that they send more than 10% of their monthly income to savings.

"If with this model of behavior a person does not lose in the quality of life, it is worthwhile to distribute the deferred funds. For example, part of the money can be invested to increase returns on the long horizon. On the contrary, if all free money goes into a piggy bank, and a person restricts himself in everything, the relationship with finances can become an additional source of stress. Over time, this can lead to impulsive spending or abandonment of savings altogether," the expert warned.

According to the study, almost every fifth (19%) respondent has saved up to Br100 thousand, while a third (33%) - up to Br300 thousand.

"41% of respondents have more than Br300 thousand in savings. Of these, 19% of them voiced amounts exceeding Br1 million, which indicates a well-developed financial discipline and long-term planning," Palshina added.

According to her, when a person has formed a safety cushion for 3-6 monthly expenses, the free funds should be directed into long-term savings and invested. Thus, the return on investment will be greater, and the tax burden on money - less.

Less than a third (30%) of respondents have not yet started saving. Respondents said that they find it difficult to manage expenses (72%) and lack information for this purpose (11%).

"I know from myself that keeping track of and analyzing expenses can take up a lot of resources. Banks' mobile apps help automate this process. To quickly find the items where "parasite expenses" are hiding, pay attention to the "Other" categories, as well as purchases in supermarkets," the expert advised.

Among the goals for which the Russians save, respondents indicated home repairs (19%), travel (17%), buying a car, as well as education for themselves or children (14% each, respectively). Another 23% want to create a financial safety cushion.

Earlier, January 19, it was reported that every second Russian surveyed makes a financial plan for the year. This is stated in the results of a study of financial marketplace "Vyberu.ru". At the same time, 45% of respondents said that they plan monthly expenses and income, reserving the right to adjust the strategy during the year. At the same time, 33% believe that only a detailed plan is the key to a successful strategy, they prescribe a detailed plan with justification of costs, and also put risks in it.
