Anokhin, ex-head of the Fonbet betting company, was arrested for two months


The court arrested the ex-general director of the bookmaker company "Fonbet" Sergey Anokhin for two months in the case of bribery in the amount of 60 million rubles. This was reported by the Izvestia correspondent from the courtroom on January 30.
The former head of the company will stay in custody until March 29.
Anokhin's lawyer said at the hearing that his client pleaded guilty, executed a confession of guilt and gave "detailed testimony on the other defendants in the case, as well as cooperates with the investigation. Based on this, the defense counsel asked the judge not to send Anokhin to a pre-trial detention center, but to choose a ban on certain actions.
At the trial it turned out that Anokhin has Mexican citizenship and residence permit of Montenegro.
At the same time, during the session Anokhin said that he is the current CEO of "Fonbet", although the day before the company said that he left the post at the end of last year.
Earlier, another defendant in the case, private detective Stepan Gritskov, was arrested for two months, until March 29. The investigation suggests that Gritskov became an intermediary in the transfer of bribes.
The day before, January 29, Anokhin, one of the heads of subdivisions of the Moscow Interior Ministry and a lawyer were charged under Part 5 of Article 291 ("Bribery on a large scale") and Part 4 of Article 291.1 of the Criminal Code ("Aiding and abetting bribery on a large scale").
The Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia specified that Anokhin did not want law enforcers to learn about embezzlement at his former place of work. For this purpose, he tried to give a bribe in the amount of 60 million rubles, but his plan failed because the operative who was to receive the money and one of the intermediaries were participants in the operational experiment.
Anokhin was detained on January 29 while trying to transfer the bribe. Six people were detained in the case of the ex-general director of the company, including the deputy head of the Department of Internal Affairs in the Eastern District of Moscow, Sergei Bivol.
At the time, it was reported that Anokhin had been head of Fonbet since 2022, but left to focus on developing his own business projects. Acting CEO of the betting company will be Konstantin Linev.
