The first power plant in Russia, operating on incineration of household waste, of RT-Invest Holding of Rostec State Corporation supplied almost 2 million kWh of electricity in the first month of operation. This was reported in the press service of the state corporation on January 30.
"The first in Russia "green" power plant of RT-Invest Holding of Rostec State Corporation has supplied almost 2 million kWh to the power grid. In just one month the enterprise processed more than 19 thousand tons of municipal waste", - stated in the publication of the press service.
It is noted that the power plant plans to supply 520 million kWh of electricity per year, which will be enough to provide electricity to about 80 thousand residents.
According to RT-Invest CEO Andrei Shipelov, four more "green" power plants are currently under construction, three of them will open in the Moscow region and another one in Tatarstan.
"Cumulatively, all five plants will be able to process more than 3.3 million tons of waste per year. For comparison, the equivalent is about 60 million garbage bags that will not be buried in landfills. This will reduceCO2 emissions by 3.8 million tons and improve the quality of life of more than 18 million people," Shipelov added.
Earlier, on December 20, 2024, the head of Rosatom, Alexei Likhachev, said that within the framework of the completed national project "Ecology", the state corporation "Rosatom" has done a lot in the field of treatment of the most hazardous industrial waste. He said that "Ecology" was aimed at working with wastes of the first and second classes of danger.
According to him, the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), the D.I. Mendeleev Russian Chemical-Technological University (RCTU) and scientists of the Russian Federation assisted the state corporation in this work. All of them contributed to the search for original domestic solutions, which are planned to be shared with friendly countries in the future.
