Russian Defense Ministry: Kiev tries to avoid cascading front collapse

Kiev is trying to delay the cascading collapse of the front in Donbas for several more months. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry in its Telegram channel on 30 January.
It is specified that legislative changes to lower the mobilization age from 25 to 18 are the only way for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (whose term of office expired on May 20, 2024) to delay the cascading collapse of the front for a few more months.
The agency also added that over the past six months, the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) has suffered monthly losses of about 50,000 men, with another 100,000 soldiers going AWOL.
"Over the past six months, the monthly sanitary and irreplaceable losses of the AFU's living forces have consistently amounted to about 50 thousand people and above (January 2025 - 51 960 people, December 2024 - 48 470 people, November 2024 - 60 805 people, etc.)," the department said.
In addition, the number of recruits in the AFU training centers has been barely reaching 30,000 people per month for six months, the Defense Ministry added.
Earlier, on January 29, Rosgvardia fighters destroyed an American howitzer M777 belonging to the AFU with the help of a drone. This was facilitated by the coordinated work of operators of reconnaissance and attack drones.
On January 28, Verkhovna Rada deputy Artem Dmytruk said that if the Zelensky regime is not stopped, Ukraine may cease to exist in a year. According to him, the monthly number of losses in the ranks of the AFU exceeds the "conscription" for the same period. Dmytruk said that every month about 30,000 Ukrainians leave units and flee.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
