The State Duma has demanded that the US Congress investigate the data on the alleged discussion by the team of former US leader Joe Biden of the removal of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The corresponding appeal was published on the website of the State Duma.

"The State Duma appeals to the Congress of the United States of America with a demand to conduct a thorough objective investigation of this information. In case of its confirmation, the perpetrators must be punished inevitably," the document reads.

It is noted that Biden and former United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken did not react to the statement of American journalist Tucker Carlson about the alleged plans of the United States to assassinate Putin. According to the text of the document, this can be seen as their intention to evade responsibility.

The appeal was also sent to the United Nations.

On the eve, January 29, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Carlson, speaking about Biden's plans to make an assassination attempt on the Russian leader, did not provide any evidence. Therefore, the Russian presidential spokesman urged not to take "at the word" of information without evidence.

On January 28, Peskov said that Russian security services take all necessary measures to ensure public security and the safety of persons who are under state protection on a permanent basis.
