A protest against the financing of Ukraine by raising taxes in Spain was held at the central Aragon station in the Barcelona metro. This was reported by the Izvestia correspondent on January 30.

Several people standing on the platform held a large stretching board with the inscription: "From 2022 - 44 billion to Ukraine for <conflict> NATO against Russia! Stop financing <conflicts>!"

It is noted that the activists were wearing masks with their mouths taped with black duct tape, symbolizing the country's government's ban on speaking out against spending from the budget.

In October 2024, a picket against the financing of Nazis in Ukraine was held in Barcelona on the boutique street Portal del Angel near Plaça Catalunya. Activists dressed in anti-radioactive suits and gas masks.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Kiev amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbass, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
