UAZ started production of Sollers ST6 and ST8 pickups

Sollers has launched the production of all-wheel drive pickup trucks Sollers ST6 and ST8 on a full-cycle technology at the industrial site UAZ in the Ulyanovsk region. This is stated in the company's message, which was received by Izvestia on January 30. Ulyanovsk-made pickups will appear in dealerships in the first quarter of 2025.
To produce Sollers ST6 and ST8, the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant has commissioned a new 130-meter welding line and chassis assembly line equipped with modern equipment. The painting and assembly plants have also been modernized. The pickup truck bodies are assembled together with the UAZ family of vehicles, and the final assembly is carried out on a new production line installed specifically for the new products.
According to Nikolay Sobolev, General Director of Sollers PJSC, the launch of Sollers ST6 and ST8 production at UAZ will become "a driver for further development of both the infrastructure of the site itself and synergy between the brands in terms of technology and localization of units". The company intends to become the leader of the pickup segment in the Russian Federation, replacing imported analogs. In the future, the lineup will be supplemented with one more model.
All-wheel drive vehicles of Sollers are equipped with power units of Russian production. A two-liter diesel engine with an output of 136 hp is produced at the engine plant in Elabuga, and production of a six-speed manual transmission is established at Sollers Transmission Production in Zavolzhye. As an alternative, a two-liter gasoline turbo engine with 176 hp is offered for the ST6, while the ST8 is also equipped with a 2.4-liter engine with 204 hp.
The Sollers ST8 pickup has a ground clearance of 210 mm and a payload capacity of 900 kg. Sollers ST6 has been on the Russian market for more than a year, more than 3.5 thousand of such cars were sold in 2024.
On January 28, it was reported that the Ulyanovsk automobile plant will produce the first batch of cars painted with the new technology at the end of January. The plant has introduced new robotic equipment in the paint shop to apply secondary primer to the bodies of all UAZ models, the Sollers pickup truck lineup and the Sollers Argo family.
