Construction of Russia's first artificial island in Sochi within the framework of the project "Corporation Island First" is planned to start in 2026. This was announced by the project's managing director Bulat Shakirov on January 30, RIA Novosti reports .

"From 2026 we plan to start construction of protective hydraulic structures, as it is possible to make the body of the island only when we have protected the water area from water and wind," said Shakirov.

On the territory will be erected hotel complexes, tourist, sports and recreational areas, as well as music venues and a center for the study of the Black Sea. It is noted that the project is planned to be completed by 2031.

In addition, about 1 trillion rubles will be allocated for the construction of a bulk island of 50 hectares. It is noted that the payback period of the project will be 12 years.

Earlier, January 28, it was noted that Russians have become more interested in "non-Black Sea" destinations. At the same time, the Black Sea resorts of Krasnodar Krai and Crimea are the leaders in terms of the volume of bookings of summer tours in Russia, made after the New Year vacations. They account for 59% of bookings (Sochi - 27%, Gelendzhik - 10%, Anapa - 6%, Tuapse - 5%, Crimea - 11%).
