FPV drone crews destroyed an AFU tank in the special operation zone
FPV drones of the Zapad group of forces have destroyed a T-72M1 tank belonging to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the special operation zone for the defense of Donbas. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 30.
"The servicemen of the reconnaissance unit of the 25th All-Russian Army of the group of troops "West" with the help of air reconnaissance means revealed the movement of the AFU's T-72M1 tank to a firing position in the area of a forest belt in the zone of the special operation for the defense of Donbass," the ministry said in a statement.
The military transferred information about the enemy's equipment to the command post, and after analyzing the information it was decided to strike the tank. Russian scouts secretly conducted a march from the rear to the front line, and then FPV drone operators, choosing the right moment, attacked the tank.
The objective control footage shows the drone hitting the armored vehicle. The tank was successfully destroyed: after the FPV drone hit, the AFU combat vehicle exploded and caught fire.
Earlier in the day, calculations of D-30 howitzers of the artillery unit of the "North" group of troops destroyed platoon strongholds of the AFU in the special operation zone, where there were militants. The Russian military said that they received the coordinates of the targets from the operators of reconnaissance drones, and spent a minimum number of shells when hitting enemy targets.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
