American figure skater John Maravilla said on January 30 that his dog was the reason he was not allowed on the plane, which then crashed near Washington, DC.

"The agent at the passenger check-in desk told me that my dog was too big to carry," the athlete told the RIA Novosti news agency .

He specified that after talking to the agent decided to go by car.
