A criminal case has been sent to court against British citizen James Anderson, who is accused of committing a terrorist act and mercenarism. This was reported by the Investigative Committee of Russia in Telegram-channel on January 30.

"James Anderson for material remuneration took a direct part in the armed conflict as a mercenary on the territory of the Russian Federation", - said in a statement.

According to investigators, in November last year Anderson, armed with automatic small arms and explosive devices, invaded the territory of the Kursk region. He committed various criminal acts against the population.

On November 23, the mercenary was captured by Russian marines. According to him, they "treated him very well".

The court elected Anderson a preventive measure in the form of detention.

On January 30, the supreme court of the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) passed a criminal sentence in absentia on 22-year-old Georgian citizen Georgi Gelashvili, who participated in hostilities on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). From May 2022 to October 2024, he continued to participate in hostilities, receiving a reward of 2.4 million rubles.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
