Tarasova called the crash of a plane carrying figure skaters in the U.S. "terrible news"

Tatyana Tarasova, honored figure skating coach of the USSR, commented on the crash of a plane near Washington, D.C., with Russian figure skaters on board.

"Terrible news... I watch TV to find out new information. I call my acquaintances, students. Alisa Efimova is home, Annabel Morozova is home," - quotes Tarasova "Sport-Express" on January 30 .

It was specified that there were at least 14 skaters on board, including world figure skating champions Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov.

Earlier in the day, the U . S. Figure Skating Association (U. S. Figure Skating) confirmed that several skaters were aboard the plane that crashed near Washington.

On the night of January 30, an American Airlines passenger plane and a Blackhawk military helicopter collided near Ronald Reagan National Airport in Washington, DC. So far, at least 18 bodies have been recovered at the scene of the plane crash. The search continues. A total of 60 passengers and four crew members were on board the American Airlines plane. There were three military personnel in the helicopter.

US President Donald Trump called the airplane crash that occurred in Washington terrible. He said that the tragedy could have been avoided if the helicopter crew had changed course.
