One of the hostages released in the Gaza Strip was handed over to the Israeli military. This was reported by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) press service on January 30.

"The hostage currently returning to the territory of Israel is escorted by IDF special forces and ISA forces, upon arrival she will undergo an initial medical examination," the agency's press service said in a Telegram publication.

The press service of the IDF calls to respect the personal space of the girl.

The day before it was reported that the Palestinian radical movement Hamas on January 30 will release Israeli hostages Arbel Yehud, Gadi Moses and IDF employee Agam Berger. The list was handed over through intermediaries Qatar and Egypt. In addition to the three hostages, the Palestinian movement, as confirmed by Israeli officials, is set to release on the same day five of the eight hostages who are Thai nationals.

Prior to that, the first phase of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas went into effect on Jan. 19. During this phase of the deal, which will last 42 days, 33 Israeli hostages and some 1,900 Palestinians are to be released. On the same day, the movement released three hostages in exchange for 90 Palestinian prisoners, and on January 26, four military girls were handed over to the Red Cross.

The situation in the Middle East escalated on the morning of October 7, 2023, when Hamas launched a massive rocket attack from the Gaza Strip into Israel. On the same day, Israel began retaliatory strikes.
