Sobyanin told about renewal of electric cables under the Moskva River

The capital's power engineers are carrying out unique work to renew electric cable lines under the Moskva River. The old lines were laid 70 years ago and have exhausted their resource, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said in his Telegram channel.
"We are replacing them with modern ones with the necessary capacity. This will increase the reliability of power supply to consumers of the Central Administrative District and expand opportunities for connecting new consumers, which is also important for the development of small and medium-sized businesses," - said the head of the city.
Works on replacement of underwater cables are carried out in Moscow regularly, added Sobyanin. Last winter cables were renewed on four lines between Moskvoretskaya and Raushskaya embankments in the vicinity of the park "Zaryadye". In December 2024 three lines between Bolotnaya and Yakimanskaya embankments were completed, in January they finished laying cables on two more lines between Kremlevskaya and Sofiyskaya embankments.
Now the work is being carried out in the area of Bolshoy Ustiinsky Bridge. Divers, tugboats, shuttles with hydro-monitors take part in technically difficult tasks. First, the repairmen erode the river bottom, find the line and dismantle the cable with the help of a winch. Then they lay a new one and after successful tests put it into operation.
